Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors in Adolescence

0.00 - 40.00
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors present a common challenge for clinicians working with adolescents. This program will address best practices for assessing safety of adolescents with suicidal thoughts and behaviors and determining disposition. In addition to this, the speaker will discuss and demonstrate the significance of these phenomena from a psychoanalytically informed perspective. Psychoanalysis can elucidate some motivations behind suicidal thoughts and behaviors, such as in the Freudian conception of acting out, and can guide the clinician’s position in treatment as well.
